The city of Ganzhou, lies in the south of Jiangxi Province, China, with 18 counties (cities, district) and one developing zone under its jurisdiction. It has a population of eight million nine hundred thousand and a land area of thirty-nine thousand four hundred square kilometers. It is a historically celebrated city with a tradition of more than 2200 years. Ganzhou is a major agricultural area and is a main producer of cash crops. It is very rich in agricultural resources, particularly possessing unique natural conditions needed for harvesting Naveloranges. Its planting area of Navelorange ranks No. 1 in the world, and is reputed as “ World’s Capital of the Navel Oranges”. For the purpose of further publicizing Ganzhou, branding the world-famous Gannan NavelOrange, promoting Gannan navel orange culture and increasing the national popularity and influence of Ganzhou, we are holding a design competition to select the new logo of “Ganzhou-World’s Capital of the Navel Orange”. Please read the following for the rules and regulations.
1. Requirements of design
A) Logo should be related to the theme of “World’s Capital of the Navel Orange”, reflecting the property and identity of the city of Ganzhou, highlighting in particular the auspicious and dynamic characteristics of the city of Ganzhou; specifically displaying Grand Ganzhou’s historically cultural charm.
B) Logo should be concise but vibrant, creative but with meaning, artistic but with a slight shock factor.
C). It should be easy to produce and suitable to any use.
2. Guidelines for contributors
A) Only color artwork located at the center of A4 paper and E draft (PSD, CDR, JPEG formats only) should be submitted. Standard scale and standard color should be marked out and a detailed verbal description should be attached to the artwork. Coordinates draft is also acceptable if condition permits. The E draft should be submitted on a disc.
B) The color artwork and E draft must specify contributing organization and personal information (name of the organization or the person, gender, ID card, occupation, contact address, telephone, E-mail and other means of communications).
C). Deadline: Must be post marked by March 31, 2010.
D) The contributing design must be the original works of the author which has never been published or contributed; no form of plagiarism or piracy will be accepted. If the design is found to be unoriginal, it will be disqualified and the contributor will bear corresponding legal liability.
E) The submitted design will not be returned. The author should keep an original copy. The author can dispose of his works if he does not notice of reward within six weeks after the press time.
F) Every design must be enclosed with a letter of commitment on copyright transfer with the author’s signature or official seal; otherwise it will be regarded as an invalid design.
G) The contributing works should be no more than ten pieces per person or group.
3. Rewards and review method
A) Awards
One design will be selected as the first place winner. The award is one hundred eighty thousand RMB Yuan.
Nine outstanding (excellent) designs will be chosen. The award is twenty thousand RMB Yuan each and certificates of excellence.
Fifty finalist designs will be rewarded honorable mentions and souvenirs.
B) Review method
April 1, 2010 to April 15, 2010: experts meet for an initial examination of the contributions and select 60 designs.
April 20, 2010 to May 5, 2010: the 60 initially selected designs will be publicized on the website of Ganzhou City People’s Government (www.ganzhou.gov.cn), website of Ganzhou China (www.gndaily.com). Voting will take place via cell phone messages and on website.
May 10, 2010 to May 15, 2010: Experts meet for a second review and select one final design and 9 excellent entries.
May 20, 2010: Announcement of the finalists and prize winners on Gannnan Daily, Ganzhou City People’s Government website, China Ganzhou (Hakka) Website and contact with the finalists, and awarding of the prizes.
4. Other rules and regulations
A) The organizer will not assume any liability on the entries possible post delay, mislabeling of the envelope, insufficient postage, stolen, lost and damage caused by another party.
B) The collection party holds the right to ask the author to revise the selected design according to the requirements and have elements of the selected design revised by the author.
C) All participating parties shall have sufficient understanding and will have accepted the terms of the notice on the related rights and obligations. The final interpretation on this contest belongs to the Logo Collection Office of “Ganzhou-World’s Capital of the Navel Orange”.

To The Logo Collection Office of “Ganzhou-World’s Capital of the Navel Orange”
I hereby declare that I have read, understood and accepted Contest Entry Notice of the Design of the logo of “Ganzhou-World’s Capital of the Navel Orange” and made the following commitments.
1.My contributing design, submitted to the competition, is original, never have been published or used, possessing sufficient, entire and exclusive copyright, the candidate’s work(s) will not infringe on any rights and interests of the third party.
2.After the candidate signs the letter of commitment and has won the prize, the copyright of his selected works will be transferred to Ganzhou City People’s Government irrevocably at one time, and at the same time, the author should commit to quitting all rights to publishing, authorship, amendment and protection of integrity. Ganzhou City People’s Government has the right to decide, by itself, any amendment, use, development, authorization, license and protecting activity on the designs, without any interference and restriction from the author or any third party.
3.If the contributing design wins,Ganzhou City People’s Government can enjoy all the rights stated in the letter of commitment after paying the rewards accordingly and without any extra pay, the contributing party has no right to enjoy any special rights and share any rights and interests obtained from the selected works with Ganzhou City People’s Government.
4.If the author fails to carry out the commitments in the letter, Ganzhou City People’s Government reserves the right to claim indemnity to the author for the direct, indirect and other economic losses caused by him.
5.No matter if the author is at fault or not, if the contributing design leads Ganzhou City People’s Government to any claims, litigation, arbitration, and complications from any direct or indirect losses of fame, reputation and economy, Ganzhou City People’s Government has rights to take legal actions against the contributing Party.
6.Without the written consent of Ganzhou City People’s Government, the author cannot transfer any or all parts of the commitments of the letter to a third party.
7. The interpretation of this letter is subject to the relevant laws of the People’s Republic of China.
8.The Letter of Commitment will be effective upon the signature of the candidate.
